A story to often told....

I was enjoying the day in one of our parks not long ago, when I saw a woman with two beautiful dogs. Both were pitbull type dogs, one, the younger one, was impressive looking, with his muscular body, big head, and coloring....I stopped to meet them and upon doing so asked her about the younger dog. She claimed it was a new dog to her, a rescue. I noticed that he wasn't neutered, so I asked if she was planning on doing so, None of my business, you may say, but I was curious........Her response saddened me. And it is because of people like her, so I believe, that dogs, like the one pictured, end up in shelters,  often euthanized. She told me that she would probably breed him. Remember this dog came from a rescue group, so she knows nothing about it's genetics, nor it's parents, or it's history.....and I also want to say, she could barely control the dog. He was pulling her along. He was friendly, just very strong and exuberant. Anyhow, she said she would probably breed him because she knew a woman with a female, and that woman wanted a puppy. I asked her why she didn't suggest to this other woman to seek a puppy from a rescue group like she did, to which she just shrugged and said, "she wants his puppy". I made the comment that you know pits/pit mixes are known for having large litters often times, to which she replied, "I'd find them all good homes, and I wouldn't charge anything either".....to which in frustration, I replied, "giving a dog away for free is never a good idea". "At least if someone pays a price that is some motivation for them to care for their investment". That didn't seem to register with her. So to that, I just shook my head and quietly whispered to her dogs, "good luck".....I wish it were legal to hit people for simply being stupid!!
